14. When The Wind Blows
1. Parkette (1:32)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
When I was a kid, I found a
robin's egg and hid it on a
timber in an old abandoned shack
that was sitting in a field
full of raspberry bushes
with a crab apple tree around the back.
And a stream going by
at the bottom of a hill
with a rock in the middle
and if you sat still
You could see the minnows swimming
from an overhanging limb
you could listen to the heat bug trill.
And early every day
all my friends and I would play
digging holes and finding gold
among the rocks.
And looking for salamanders,
and eating all the berries,
and rolling down the hill in a box.
Until on day they came with their machinery
and dozed down the shack
and hacked up the greenery
and stuffed the steam in a concrete pipe
and leveled the hill away.
And then they built a couple of mounds,
to make it look round,
and brought in loads of sod.
And planted a row of tress
that came up to our knees;
without a speck of shade it looked so odd.
And there were no more dragon flies
and no cray fishin;
and they called it a Parkette
after a politician
And put up a sign
saying no ball playing
and nobody ever went there anymore.

2. Talk to me Babe (4:21)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider, Don Kerr, Victor Bateman, Dave Bidini, Kerste McLeod
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Talk to me Babe.
You give me reason to believe you still care.
Do you think it's right to keep me
hanging in air?
Talk to me Babe.
It wasn't long ago that we were so close.
Now you're like a stranger and
I feel like a ghost -
wandering around...
You tell me you don't want to lose my love
but you won't say yes, and you won't say no.
I'm learning all about the blues, my love
Do I have to guess? Or do I already know?
Talk to me Babe
I want so badly to be talking to you.
Couldn't this be just another thing
we go through?
Talk to me Babe.
Don't worry that you might have
nothing to say
if you've got the will I know that we'll
find the way...
I want a lover who believes in me
when I am up and when I am down.
I want a lover like you used to be -
I know we didn't feel free,
but I think we could be.
Talk to me Babe.
I think you owe me more than
you gave when you left.
I know you do because you said so yourself.
Talk to me Babe.
It's like we're standing on each side
of a wall.
If we tear it down would there be nothing at all?
- That's what I've got to see...
Falling out of love is not a crime,
people do it all the time.
But if you've still got affection for me babe
I want to let it grow,
and I want to tell you so.
Talk to me Babe.
You can still...
Talk to me Babe
in spite of everything...
Talk to me Babe...

3. What I Don't Know (Is Hurting Me) (2:47)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider, Don Kerr, Victor Bateman, Howard Druckman
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
I can't read your expressions anymore.
I don't know what you're thinking
like before.
It isn't that you try
to put on a disguise
it's just your old familiar face
with a stranger lookin' out of your eyes.
You don't share your impressions
like you did.
If you care about mine you keep it hid.
A thousand little signs
I read between the lines
are leaving me to think that
you're thinking of
leaving me behind.
Chorus
And I don't know
How to please you anymore.
When you smile at me
It seems like a chore.
And I don't know
how this has come to be.
And what I don't know
is hurting me.
but I must wait for you
I cannot understand why you pretend
unless it's too serious to mend
but I must wait for you
to tell me that it's true
and you don't feel like thinkin'
now there's nothing I can do...
Chorus
And I don't know.
How to please you anymore.
When you smile at me
It seems like a chore.
And I don't know
how this has come to be.
And what I don't know
is hurting me.

4. Rejection Blues (3:45)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider, Don Kerr, Victor Bateman, Howard Druckman
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Well I went to work this morning
I walked in the door
the boss said: "I'm so sorry
but you don't work here anymore."
Well I dragged myself back
home again, took off my coat.
I walked into the kitchen
all I found there was a note.
I headed for the bedroom,
the picture of despair,
but I stepped on my own shoelace
now I can't climb the stair.
I got the Rejection Blues.
I got the Rejection Blues.
I got the little short of perfection
I didn't quite pass inspection blues.
Just then the mailman came by,
put a letter in my slot
It said: "We didn't like that
song you wrote
but anyway thanks a lot."
I threw it in the garbage
took the trash out to the lawn
but when I looked out later
everyone's but mine was gone.
I thought at least I'll walk to the dog
and I gave the dog a call
but when he heard me coming
he took off down the hall.
Now I got the Rejection Blues
I got the Rejection Blues.
I got the pardon our correction
but you didn't make the selection blues.
So I left my house and home behind
a button fell off my coat
a politician stopped me just the say
that he didn't want my vote.
I though I might become a bum
when I saw a bum go by
I tried to give him all my money
but I couldn't catch his eye.
I thought I'd walk around the block
but they alley was blind.
I though I might become a drunk
but I can't hold my wine.
I got the Rejection Blues.
I got the Rejection Blues.
I got the can't make no connection
goin' in the direction blues.
So I tried to catch a train
"Carry your own bag," said the ported.
I called up to complain
but the phone wouldn't take my quarter.
I joined a demonstration
I screamed and protested
I fell down in the middle of the street
but I still couldn't get arrested.
Sometimes I think I'll kill myself
but I have to stop and wait
I'm so afraid of what'll happen when
I get to the Pearly Gate.
I got the Rejection Blues.
I got the Rejection Blues.
I got the we're all doin' well and
we don't care what you are sellin' blues...

5. What's up Doll? (3:34)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider, Don Kerr, Victor Bateman, Howard Druckman, Dave Bidini
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
What's up doll?
Lately when I come to call
you keep me hangin' in the hall
and it makes me feel so strange.
What's up doll?
I though you were my friend
well I guess I'll have to guess again
I though I knew you but people change.
Don't I deserve an explanation?
Or can't you think of one?
Leaving it to my imagination
is the cruelest thing you could have done.
What's up doll?
I thought we always had a deal.
Whatever happens keep it real
That was the one thing that we
absolutely had to do.
What's up doll?
So you're dissatisfied.
Well it isn't like we never tried.
And I don't want to live a lie
no more than you do.
Now if you weren't trying to hurt me
We could find a common ground.
Think how you'd be feeling now
if this thing was the other way around.
What's up doll?
I thought you had a classy act.
Now I'm finding out in fact
You got no manners and it's just no good.
What's up doll?
Everything is all cut off and choppy.
It's so slipshod and sloppy.
Meanwhile you go actin'
like it's understood...
ooo ooo!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. If I Sang it Pretty (3:27)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Winter's on the way.
I should have had my wood by now
if I was gonna stay,
but it looks like I'll be leaving.
Up to now I was hoping
you would change your mind,
but any more is dreaming.
It's the past
and I'll have to learn to leave it behind,
but isn't it a pity?
So now I have to find
something new to do
That I can call my own;
something to believe in.
After I finally shake
this devil of mine,
this believable demon.
I don't say I can beat him
but you know I'll be trying,
while I'm in the city.
Bridge:
Here am I ready as I
will ever be.
Feeling equal parts of lonely
and of just being free.
And not expecting miracles.
So farewell and goodbye.
Here's to us, just for being
such a good try.
And let's just call us ever.
And let's just call this
a song to remember us by.
Now, if I sang it pretty,
We could call this a song
to remember us by.
If I sang it pretty.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Hurry up Blues (2:53)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider, Don Kerr, Victor Bateman, Colin Couch
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Hurry up, hurry up.
I got the hurry up blues.
Devil to pay if you dare refuse.
You better get yourself
out that door.
If he catches up with you
he's gonna give you what for.
Hurry up, hurry up.
Keep that foremost in your mind.
Stop to think about it
and you're sure to fall behind.
Keep those wheels spinning
it's your only hope.
Already you're beginning
to slip back down that slope now.
Hurry up, hurry up.
Ruin is nipping at your heel.
Soon enough you're gonna find out
how that feels.
C'mon now, head out -
better get the lead out -
Hurry up blues.
Do not make the big mistake
of taking your time.
It never was yours to begin with
so to take it is a crime.
C'mon now, hustle.
Bust a corpuscle
Aw, hurry up blues.
Hurry up, hurry up.
Start makin' tracks.
Maybe down along the line
you'll get to relax.
Keep your eye on business,
leave the scenery alone.
That Sweet Pea can go climbing up
that vine all on it's own now.
Hurry up, hurry up.
Run 'til you drop.
This life only got two speeds -
hurry up and stop.
So take your pick now.
Best make it quick now.
Aw, hurry up blues...
You'd better choose.
Well it's been fun
but I gotta run
I got the
Hurry up Blues

8. Bums in the Park (3:53)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider, Don Kerr, Victor Bateman, Howard Druckman, Jeff Burke,
Bob Wiseman, Ian Guenther
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Oh, the bums in the park
they come out after dark.
They dance and they sing.
Their bottles they bring.
They sleep in the bushes
when they get tired.
All wrapped in their overcoats
they lay themselves down
between the newspapers
and the cardboard they've found.
Their shoes are their pillows.
Their mattress is the ground.
Out on the benches
during the day
their bottles are usually
hidden away
though they'd offer you some
if you came around
But deep in the night time
if you're passing by
you might hear a cough.
You might hear a sigh
but I wouldn't look for them.
No, don't even try.
Oh, the bums in the park
they come out after dark.
They dance and they sing.
Their bottles they bring.
They sleep in the bushes
when they get tired.

9. Darn Folksinger (4:48)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
This guy came up to me in the street
and said "How come you never write
any protest songs?", and I said:
"Well, because everything is O.K."
But I got thinking about it, and I came
up with one little pet peeve,
so I wrote a protest song:
Well there's a situation goin' on
across this land
I personally believe is gettin' out of hand
concerning certain individuals
and the gathering of untownard residuals.
And I think it's time that something was said
about the gleaning of all this ill got bread
'cause the ones responsible for
the impropriety,
are amongst the most conspicuous
in our society.
O, the birds make birds
and the bunnies make bunnies
and the only thing the darn folksinger
ever wanna make is money.
And the rain makes puddles
and the bees make honey,
and the only thing the darn folksinger
ever wanna make is money.
Makin' money.
It ain't funny.
There oughtta be a law
against the yawning maw
of an open case.
It's a big disgrace.
And the terrible din
- is sickenin',
Now the government
is worried about our welfare
and the industrialist
is tryna clean up the air.
And the only thing the
darn folksinger seem
to care about is money.
And the businessman is busy
deliverin' the goods
and the paper company
is a- managin' the woods.
But these roving
street bound bands
of hoods are after money.
Lookin' for an honorarium
outside of the aquarium
Or a-squawk, squawk, squawk,
along the whole sidewalk.
Or drummin' on a corner.
Or tootin' on a horn, or
just a-caterwaulin'
on a old guitar.
Throw him a loon
and he'll play you a tune.
Ruin the peace of
an afternoon.
And somebody better do
somethin' soon is
all I'm sayin'.
Or he'll stand there wailin'
the livelong day.
And you throw him a quarter
in hopes he'll go away.
But he takes it as a sign the you want him to stay there playin'.
And the pitiful moan
bring down the tone.
And all that strummin'
is unbecomin'.
They're plain unruly
and except for yours truly
- they oughtta get a job
instead of under the pretext
of playin' so called rock and roll,
be allowed to exact
a toll and oughtright rob
and unsuspecting and pedestrian public!
Now the developed is out there
putting up housin'
while these no goods are off carousin':
And how is it that these
atonal anarchists are allowed
to roam the community
with seeming impunity?
O! The diplomat is diligently
studying to dove
and even the poet spares a thought for love.
And the only thing
the darn folksinger's thinkin' of
is dineros and zlotys and drachmas
and yen and francs and cents
and gold and mercurial green.
And while the banker
is aspreadin' it all around the nation
pecuniary consideration
is the machinatin' motivation of you know who I mean:
Johnny Paycheck.
Ray Price.
Eddie Money.
Ronny Prophet.
Johnny Cash.
Buck Owens.
Hank Williams.
Well, William's just
another name for Bill.
All they wanna do
is fill their till
by reaping more than
they are sewing.
So just remember
that the love of money
is the root of all folksongs.

10. Sittin' in the Kitchen (3:56)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider, Don Kerr, Victor Bateman, Dave Bidini, Bob Wiseman
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Sittin' in the kitchen
is my favourite thing to do
I said, sittin' in the kitchen
is my favourite thing to do.
Well you can dine at the Ritz
or you can laze on the beach
but I like having everything right in reach.
I said:
Sittin' in the kitchen
is my favourite thing to do.
Sittin' in the kitchen
is my favourite place to be.
Lookin' out the window
admirin' the scenery.
You got a smokestack here
a ventilator there
television aerials
everywhere, of course.
I said:
Sittin' in the kitchen
is my favourite place to be.
My little kitchen
has everything I require.
It's got a pot and a stove
and a light bulb hangin' on a wire.
I got the soup on simmer
and the lights on low
'cause I got myself a dimmer
and an even glow
I said:
Sittin' in the kitchen.
is my favourite thing to do.
I can sit in the room
and ruminate until the chickens
come home to roost.
I never have to go very far
to cook my goose.
I can sit there 'till the cows come too
but if they look in the 'afrigerator
they're gonna beat me black and blue
I said:
Sittin' in the kitchen's
my favourite thing to do.
Well, I thought about goin' out once
but I ended up throwing a party instead.
We had dancing in the living room
and all the coats on the bed.
The radio played the music.
I played the host
(as long as I didn't have to
leave the place I like the most)
I said:
Sittin' in the kitchen
- that's where I was all night long.
But, there was a time
when I roamed this land.
It was pillar to post
Paul and Peter and hand to hand.
It was a-rain and sleet
and a Fahrenheit and Celsius.
I didn't have a kitchen
I useta sit in somebody elsius.
I said:
Sittin; in the kitchen
awailin' on the old guitar.
I'm thinkin' about becomin'
the world's biggest rock and roll star.
Well I'd give it a shot, lose or win
but I don't think I could fit everybody in.
'cause sittin' in the kitchen'
the only place I'd try a stunt like that.
When I'm sittin' in my kitchen
all I want on my plate is chow.
And I'm wishin' I was sittin'
in my kitchen right about now
I'd pick up a pizza
from the joint up the street
'cause I hate to cook
but I love to eat.
I said:
Sittin' in the kitchen
is my favourite thing
I can even hear the telephone ring
sometimes -
Sittin' in the kitchen
my favourite thing to do...
I'm talkin' about
my kituation
situation.
Later there were a few changes made, like:
I said:
Sittin' in the kitchen.
You know where I like to spend
what few idle moments I can squeeze
out of my hectic schedule
I said:
Sittin' in the kitchen
to the best of my admittedly
fuzzy recollection
is where I spent the bulk
of the duration of the festivities
on that particular occasion.
I said:
Sittin' in the kitchen
any old way I can.
But every once in a while
I have to come up with the rent.
That's where learning to play
all three chords on the guitar
came in heaven sent.
Well I can catch the crowd
comin' out of the stadium.
Once I even ended up
playin' the palladium
But sittin in the kitchen
that's what I'd rath be doin'.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
11. Clear Blue Sky (3:36)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider, Don Kerr, Gord Cumming
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Well I can truthfully say
I wasn't looking her way.
For once I had my mind
on something else.
And that may be
why she chose me.
Lord knows she could have had
her choice.
She asked me if I minded
if she sat down at my table
and she started up
a conversation
And the way she made me feel
just by sitting there
I knew was raising me in my own estimation
You know she looked so good,
she talked so sweet.
She laughed at everything I said
and bought her own drink
Well if you think I fell
a little, well,
whadda' you think?
Right out of a clear blue sky.
Well by the end of the song
we was a-gettin' along;
I nearly forgot
why I came.
We were sittin' and chattin'
about this and that and
we didn't bother
trading names.
She told me that she
just got into town this week
from the little village
she was born in.
I started thinkin' 'bout
that twenty dollar bill
I put away for my old age
this mornin'.
You know she looked so good,
she talked so sweet
She laughed at everything I said
and bought her own drink.
Well if you think I fell
a little, well,
whadda you think?
Right out of a clear blue sky,
my,my.
O we begun to touch knees
I started getting ideas.
I must admit I though
she was green.
Nodding my head
at everything she said,
my imitation of a caring human being.
And just as I was thanking
all my lucky stars
for sending me
this beautiful creature,
she said: "well, there's the guy
I'm waiting for, now I gotta run
but it's been a lotta fun
to meetcha."
Aw. She looked so good,
she talked so sweet.
She laughed at everything I said
and bought her own drink.
Now if you think I fell
a little, well,
whadda you think?
Right out of a clear blue sky,
my, my.

12. Caught Again (2:15)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider, Don Kerr, Victor Bateman, Bob Wiseman
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
I'm caught again.
In the trap that I was settin'.
Well, that's what I get for gettin'
one step ahead of a roller coaster.
Not again.
I shoulda seen the old familiar
danger signals that would fill yer
average man on the street
with hesitation.
Did I tell myself that I could
get away without a scratch?
How could I believe that this affair
would never leave me in tatters?
Wouldn't you think I'd recognize her,
realize I met my match?
Aw, it's funny how you treat a
thing so lightly when it really matters.
I'm caught again.
Well, I made the same mistake.
About the stupidest one I could make.
And I walked in with my
eyes wide open.
Don't know when
I'm gonna get my brain together.
You wanna knock me over
with a feather
well, you'll never get a better
chance than right now.
Here's the kid nobody did
victim of a vicious crime.
The sorriest sight he's ever seen
in all his years of lookin' in the mirror.
Here before you stands a man
who's seen it all, but not in time.
And worse than that, the older he gets
it doesn't seem to get any clearer.
just dearer...
I'm caught again.
You wouldda thought I'd got a little smarter,
or that the next time I'd try harder,
but I ended up where I was goin'.
Not again
This same old sorry corner?
I think somebody oughtta warn 'er
that's a darn good way to lose my affection
Hey, hey, whadda you say?
I won the bet an' I gotta pay now?

13. They Oughtta Bottle Friday Night (4:12)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider, Don Kerr, Victor Bateman, Gord Cumming, Ian Guenther
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The moon is round and full tonight
the dark is at it's lightest.
The boys are bent on gettin' tight
and the girls are in their tightest.
An' so and so's with such and such
and causing some surprise.
An' buddy over here doesn't like that much,
you can see it in his eyes.
Inside the music's playing
through the window shining bright.
There's nothing for the system
like a shot of Friday night.
The boys are on the corner,
they're lookin' tough and bored.
The great debate is raging
- Chevy or Ford.
And sometimes someone goes too far
and tempers will get frayed.
And honour has to be upheld
when comments are made.
And sometimes it gets ugly,
and sometimes it's all right.
And everythin' comes to a head
on a Friday night.
They oughtta bottle Friday night
It would make the perfect cure
and if they could can Monday morning
why, we'd have 'er made for sure.
A sudden roar of engine.
A large cloud of exhaust.
He lays a strip of rubber down
that shows how much he's lost.
He goes into a power turn
around the old stop sign
and the wheels squeal into a brake burn
that sends the gravel flyin'.
And the empties all go overboard
as he tears along the line.
He can come back for them later.
They help to pay the fine.
But the cops can't crisscross
every back road runnin' across the region
and the only law that gets respect
is hats off in the Legion.
The hall is full of revelers,
they come here to forget.
So far they're bein' successful
but the night ain't over yet.
And the times are gettin' tighter
so you may as well get tight.
And everyone agrees with that
on a Friday night.
They oughtta bottle Friday night
they'd have their fortunes made.
And if they could can Monday morning
we'd all be sittin' in the shade.
Well you can dream about a better tomorrow
You could win the lottery.
You could be the contestant
on a game show on T.V.
There's a hundred thousand different ways
to get out of the trap.
There's a giant contest goin' on
under every bottle cap.
And one of them's a winner.
And I wonder under which?
And the rules are on the wrapper
and the wrapper's in the ditch.
Yeah, I guess you could say they're a little be rough hewn.
And they may include a couple of scufflers.
And they're not too big on the niceties
like neck ties or mufflers.
But if you need some work done
They'll make you up a crew.
Not only will they build you a house
- They'll party in it too
And when the party's over
and they all fade out of sight
why you got yourself the memory of
another Friday night.
They oughtta bottle Friday night
it would outsell every brand.
And if they wanna do us all a favour
they could get Monday morning canned.

14. When the Wind Blows (4:02)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Bob Snider, Don Kerr
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Shining star.
Shining sea.
And the town lights flickering
through a windy tree.
My senses all that's left of me
- tonight...
Window screen
Window sill.
And the green grass waving
gently down the hill.
And everything is bright and still
- tonight...
Luminescent moon above horizon.
Chasing all the shadows to the trees.
Took my breath away as it was rising.
And it carries off the rest of me with ease.
When the wind blows
through my windows
the only thing I know for certain
- first breeze that blows
is gonna rustle my curtain, oh year.
A cloud comes up.
Cloud goes by.
Like a silent dragon
floating through the sky.
With silver, ragged, edges - my oh my...
Call of owl.
Cry of loon.
And the pull of everything
underneath this moon,
telling me I ain't goin' nowhere soon
-oh no...
The only jarring notes are this mosquito
and an empty feeling too close to the bone.
But neither one of these will bother me though.
Let them find their way out on their own.
When the wind blows
through my windows
the only thing I know for certain
-first breeze that blows
is gonna rustle my curtains, oh yeah.
